Thanks for the update Paddy. As you say, I saw you tune JM's guitar ready for an encore and also point to your watch shrugging when you had to come back as the lights came up.
What they did play was great and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves singing along - I had a hoarse voice on Monday!
So, it's back to King Tut's or the Arches next time then! |

If the venue say curfew, then there's not much the band can do really. However I would have been a bit hacked off if I'd come away with no encore.
Esepcailly as it was This Is England. Absolutely brilliant at Manchester. _________________ Trying not to be curt... |

The Arches is an unusual setting, v.atmospheric, loadsa space and decent munch as well plus it's pretty much central fer peeps travelling into Glasgow by train. Hopefully won't have to wait too long for the next gig....... _________________ It bites,it bites yay-yay-yay,i listen to them ev-ree-day! |

Back then I'm sure most of us here would eagerly have parted with £20 for 90 mins of their unique presence.
When I saw them at Islington there was a curfew and they didn't play 'This is England' but they more than made up for it the next time at the Peel gig (and all for just £10).
This band care about us fans every bit as much as we care about them, of that I'm certain.
Next time they are with you I'm sure they'll make up for any disappointment.
I heard they're working on a 'This is the Isle of Man' version! Dena beware! _________________ 'I'm so wrapped up in writing words for you' |

Now wouldn't THAT be a hoot?! We could all pile over to the misty rock! (Although Dena might find herself with an impromptu post-gig party!)
It's years since I've been to the IOM - bring it on guys!!

Hey Pad...cheers for the update but why no "Turn me Loose". I love that song.
By the way, "Top boots"??; it's the feeling you get when you continue to watch the footie team from the "Tail o the bank" & similar like experiences. Torture.

It Bites were unaware of this and as a result had to change their usual set list at the last minute. JM commented that they did want to play This Is England but if there's no time then there's no time. |
That happened when the guys played Nottingham last year which really did my head in, especially being ushered out but the flouresent jacket brigade rather sharpishly. Again it was for the same reasons of letting the Jagermeister kids in. Damn their eyes. |
Same with Islington. How times change; I remember the times when you went to a gig and that would be the one thing the venue was dedicated to for the evening. I like the phrase "Jagermeister Kids" - very apt, and damn their eyes indeed. |
The other sad thing about Nottingham was that the brilliant Touchstone (support) had an incredibly short set because of it. It was only because of a tip off by MooBass that I managed to get to see them. Anyone arriving at 8 missed elements of the night and some people travelled a good distance. I agree Dena, there was a sense of event when going to gigs. Its a sad fact that venues such as the ones dicussed are not behind live music 100% as they should be so its no wonder that bands pass over certain towns/cities when on tour. At Nottm, the guys came out to meet folk and had come outside the venue to do so. I had heard that the management who run this and Rock City said that "Rocks dead". I think the rocks between your ears mate! Where as you Dena, the rock is of course in your heart _________________ watch him - he's a weirdo and hard enough to roller skate on |

>>> Hey Pad...cheers for the update but why no "Turn me Loose". I love that song.
well, TML seemed to have a shocked reaction on the 2 nights they played it... OK the die hards loved it but it was thought, from the look on some faces, that some people didn't know it!
... saying that it was initially agreed to move it later in the set... however the screams for Beaches on the previous 2 nights won the day and at Manchester they rehearsed it and JB re-programmed his key for it - thus TML was dropped...
It has been discussed that on the Saga tour there will be a different set each night !
BTW, JM, Lee and I has a wish list of songs to do including Black December, Bullet in The barrel and all of OATW... you may have discussed this before but tell me again the forum wish list and I'll try and throw them in the bag for next time
The best thing about IB is there is a great load of songs to play - almost all are fantastic... MOTPE was rehearsed recently for example... and I've seen them play Vampires in rehearsals back in 2006...
The fantastic thing is JM and Lee know everything note perfect cos they honed their skills playing to IBs back in their youth... when it comes to (re)learning new songs is that JM and Lee know all the parts; drums and Keys included
BTW too; and not to piss of the Scots further... Scotland didn't get the '6 to 4 is on the run...' section of OATW either... due to the time limit!
I'd add that it was the band or venue fault about the curfew... it the promoter for not telling us.

having read that back:

it was NOT the band or venue at fault - it was the promoter for not telling us before hand - IMO
Also, I'd like to add that JM and I got together via Arena and then The Urbane due to our mutual *love* if IBs
When I toured with The Urbane with Bob as the drummer I had to check myself each night to make sure I wasn't dreaming LOL!
Bob and JB are good people

You've just capture most of my wish list with these 4! Despite having seen IB some 7 times now in all 3 line-ups, I've STILL never heard all of OATW played live. Add Sister Sarah, Rose-Marie and Fahrenheit and that's most of the tracks I'd like to hear on the next tour. |

Someone needs their collar felt as curfew's are not uncommon and whoever in the IB organisation responsible for the non communication and subsequent planning has let down a group of loyal fans.
Re King Tuts although no curfew, because they always have 3 bands, if you come over from edinburgh you always have to leave before the end to catch the last train. Missed the end of both It Bites and the FD Welcome to the wild country due to this.
The main thing though is it is great to hear these songs played live again. Pity really that we went through the Navajo Kiss and Sister Sarah stages when replacing FD would have been the most viable option and fewer supporters would have been lost too. |
