Lee’s Big 2009 Interview -  Part1
Lee’s Big 2009 InterviewPart2

Itbites.com – "Hi Lee. Thanks for answering some more questions ahead of the Sept Tour. "
Lee - "No probs Richard."

Which song from OATW are you most looking forward to playing live?
OATW, it's still my favourite It Bites song and a prog classic in my opinion.

You've obviously played gigs with other bands such as TT and Sugababes, but have you done any studio work with them? Any studio work with any other bands?
I recently played on a Take That track called Throwing Stones ( on the Said It All single ). I've played bass and Mellotron on albums for Archive. They are fairly out there but with elements of prog, rave and punk. I've also recorded albums with Rick Wakeman. Can't remember more!

Who would make up the members of your fantasy band?
Genesis 1971 line-up, perfection.

What has been your most memorable moment with IB so far?
The audition I think. Brilliant playing through Old Man with Bob and John Beck across the room.

Did you have any other jobs before becoming a full time musician?
Yeah, shepherd, neuro surgeon, biscuit tester, football manager, alien abductee........

Do you have any books on the go at the moment? Which ones?
I am reading a book about exorcism called The Rite. It's quite compelling stuff. My next book is the new Mellotron book by Nick Awde and I've not long finished Bill Bruford's biog.

What's the latest with Headspace?
We're demo-ing new songs for a concept album at the mo. Hopefully should start recording later this year.

Like JM, you're involved with other bands than IB. How do you organise yourself?
Very badly.

(with apologies to Spinal Tap for this question) If you weren't a musician, what do you think you'd be doing instead?
I've no idea, I can't even imagine how that would be. I'd probably have studied harder and got myself a degree in either astronomy or paleontology.

Who chooses the setlists for each concert?
Everyone really. We all chip in.

In September It Bites will tour and play each song from the ‘Once Around the World’ album. How are you preparing for this?
By sitting down and scratching my head whilst trying to work out the mid section of OATW!

Are you excited?
Oh yes!

Is the bassplaying difficult? Which tracks will be the hardest to play?
It's not difficult but it's a test of memory and counting. I think OATW has the trickiest bits but I'm getting there ( he lied ). I need more tea and a little lie down now!

The Tall Ships has been out for over a year now. Once the September tour is complete will It Bites concentrate on writing a new album?
Don't ask me I only play four strings and that's only one at a time!

Will you be involved in the writing this time?
I'd love to be involved in the new album.

Finally, do you have any hobbies or interests that are not related to music?
No. It's all music I'm afraid. Oh yeah !

Thank you Lee Pomeroy.
